Cordae, Common keep it real on “What’s Life?”

Cordae and Common connect for a soulful track on Liberated/Music For the Movement Vol. 3.

Juneteenth is a meaningful day for Black America, and it is only right that it would be celebrated with music from some of the most talented Black creators of our time. Music For the Movement Vol. 3 features a combination of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, funk and neo-soul, showing appreciation for the many contributions made by Black Americans over the course of history.

Cordae had previously teased “What’s Life?” in 2018, which now features a verse from legendary rapper Common. Both MCs bring their A-game on this track, pondering the meaning of existence with thought-provoking bars.

Sonically, the song is a beautiful and impactful piece, and when paired with the gravity of Juneteenth, it becomes that much more meaningful. Cordae and Common are skilled wordsmiths from different generations, so seeing the cohesion of their styles for such an important cause is both heartwarming and empowering.
