The start of a new era—a REBIRTH if you will—always invites excitement, and for DC The Don, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The Milwaukee mainstay has had a tumultuous past few months: Battling mental health issues and taking some time away from music because of it. However, it was nearly one year ago Donny was the fan-voted XXL Freshman, capping a landmark year with his first-ever festival set at Rolling Loud Miami, looking to return to form and evolve once more.
Following his last full-length album FUNERAL and with REBIRTH on the way, Donny gives fans a taste of what’s to come with his new three-pack, 2012. Featuring tracks like “MR.”, “FULLY LOADED” and “IDK IT DEPENDS,” the EP shows Donny sonically born again with his “first album” in the pipeline—or so he considers it. “I’m considering the first three as like a trilogy mixtape era,” he revealed on IG. “But this is the first album where I feel 100% sure of the work we’ve put into it.” “BRB with THE single #REBIRTH,” he wrote in the caption.
Sources close to us have said that REBIRTH is DC The Don’s most experimental album yet, prioritizing the listening experience more so than ever. With his comeback looming for a late-summer drop, expect Donny to bring forth music that builds off of FUNERAL’s potency and blends all of his styles into one.
