As if “STEP BACK,” “KISS N’ TELL” and “PAMPER PAMPER” weren’t loud enough, Dro Kenji and Mike Dimes‘ dynamism is no longer left on “DO NOT DISTURB.”
The duo’s latest link-up, which rang in the start of their joint “DO NOT DISTURB Tour” this past weekend, is another potent showcasing of their chemistry. The scathing, energetic beat sees both Kenji and Dimes tear apart their verses with velocity. Its triumphant, live intro leads in scattered, stingy synths that are expertly skated over, as the stank-face inducing cut only bolsters the pair’s collective hit-list.
As the fourth single in the Kenji-Dimes catalog, calls for a collaborative album between the two only get more blaring with each passing effort, especially with the announcement of their tour this Fall. Both the Internet Money crooner and Texas enigma recently shared solo records, WISH YOU WERE HERE and TEXAS BOY, clad with plenty of new material to perform on the road. The 25-city trek kicked off on Oct. 15 in Tucson, Arizona and will end Nov. 21 in Dimes’ home state of Texas. It also features special guests in Sid Shyne, Metro Marrs, DJ Cinco, Elz and more.
Consider this piece as a petition for Mike and Dro to drop the album. It’s safe to say the fans — including us — need it expeditiously.
