Mike Dimes, Dro Kenji aren’t one to ‘Kiss N’ Tell’ on new single

STEP BACK” and watch Mike Dimes and Dro Kenji go two-for-two.

Months removed from their collaboration off the Internet Money star’s latest album ANYWHERE BUT HERE, the Texas emcee’s new single “Kiss N Tell” rekindles he and Kenji’s energy and turns it up ten-fold.

Produced by Don Oskar, triumphant horns are the backdrop to a Southern-set visual — standing in front of a Texas flag at one point. Kenji and Dimes trade verses ever-so-effortlessly on this bombastic joint. “N***s asking for problems, but I’m asking for commas,” Dimes raps at double speed, as Kenji’s emotive crooning sets love to wayside with lines like “I’m like f*** it, I can toss my feelings, throw ‘em in the grave.”

Despite their bright blue car being broken down in the middle of the street, they don’t regret the hearts they’ve broken along the way. Weed is their saving grace, though, as Dimes’ deep-toned bars and Kenji’s fleeting vocals feel like a high you can’t get enough of — proving to be another A-plus effort from one of the new wave’s most potent one-two punches.

Both rappers are eyeing new projects in 2023, as Dimes alluded to his forthcoming album with its presumed lead single “FLEEK” (December 2022) and “HEAVY METAL” earlier this month. Kenji, who’s become one of the most prolific underground voices in two short years, is looking to drop his eighth project since bursting on the scene in late-2019 with TEARS & PISTOLS. His latest record “UDNTLUVME” — an iridescent Jersey club bop — appears to be the leading effort for his upcoming tape.

Dimes’ previous LP, In Dimes We Trust (2022), put the rising Texas spitter on map, along with a remix of his viral track “Home” with JID last June. Both artists performed at Restless Fest at SXSW in Austin last week (March 13-18), igniting mosh-pits with their energetic collab “STEP BACK.”

With this unmissable tandem back in action, “Kiss N’ Tell” is definitely a link-up you should tell your friends about.
