Ahead of his upcoming mixtape Livin Like That, Seattle’s rising star Highway is truly living in the moment.
Sharing his debut self-titled project this past June, the newly-signed Victor Victor emcee is fleshing out his sound and rapidly growing his fan base in the process — starting the rollout for his next tape with an eccentric new single titled “No Guitar.”

Floating over the track’s dark, spacey melodies that Highway has become known for, he’s rocking out regardless of having a guitar in his hand. Backed by longtime producer XJay, the beat serves as the backbone to Highway’s drawled, repetitive hooks as he shouts out the late-Kurt Cobain on the atmospheric, alt-plugg cut.
Contorting his Future-esque vocals to fit within the pockets of the potent instrumental, Highway’s airy “Rock out, no guitar” chorus cascades into a scintillating guitar solo in both refrains. Ultimately, the versatile emcee leaves fans wanting more with Livin Like That on the horizon.
“Rock out like I know guitar
Jumping off the fucking stage landing in the crowd
Bitch pulling on my dreads know my momma proud
Getting higher than the 80s
R.I.P Kurt Cobain this rockstar shit made me”

Its coinciding visual further identifies Highway’s knack for grungey, alternative vibes — linking up with his band to “rock out” in an abandoned warehouse. Upon entering, everyone is still (playing off the viral “Mannequin Challenge), but lets the music overtake them once Highway laces off his short verse.
While he preps for Livin Like That’s forthcoming release, the rapper told OGM that now that he’s made his formal introduction, “I’m finna let the world know I’m really Livin Like That.” The project still has yet to be announced, however, with the release of “No Guitar,” Highway’s next tape is still creeping closer. RIP Kurt Cobain.
