Just before Joony embarks on his debut solo tour, the Maryland-bred emcee is putting a period at the end of a career-altering year.
Following his latest full-length effort PRETTY IN BLACK and contributions to Brent Faiyaz‘s Wasteland, the Lost Kids star dropped off the final chapter to his PIB era on Friday (Nov. 18). “PRETTY IN BLACK” — which calls back on his scintillating August LP — sees Joony celebrate the many wins 2022 has garnered him.

Acting as a continuation to the PRETTY IN BLACK deluxe, Joony glides over the track’s triumphant fanfare, soft piano melodies and alien-abducting synths with ease. It seems like he never gets tired on “PRETTY IN BLACK,” keeping pace with quick-witted flows as he flexes his success regardless of naysayers.
“I remember it’s n***s that doubted me / Now I’m shittin that’s just how it had to be / With the security you can’t say hi to me,” he viciously spits — letting his signature, off-kilter flow melt within the track’s blitzing production. While Joony is known to use his voice as an instrument, “PRETTY IN BLACK” is all bars with tons of bite.
This is Joony’s first track since hopping on Jordan Ward’s nostalgic cut “IDC” in October. Along with teasing a collab tape with fellow DMV native TyFontaine, Joon’s “Pretty In Black Tour” kicks off on Dec. 4 in New York City. He’s also set to make stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles and will host its finale near his hometown in Washington, DC on Dec. 18.
With Joony on the rise and waving goodbye to “PRETTY IN BLACK,” there’s no telling what he’ll be able to achieve in his next artistic era.
