Within the DMV’s eclectic music scene, TyFontaine and Lost Kids’ Joony are among the area’s most prominent rising stars.
After experiencing a commercial Ascension following their latest LPs in WTF is P¡NK and PRETTY IN BLACK, the longtime collaborators now look to shake up the game with a joint mixtape.
While the project remains nameless in its early stages of production, Fontaine took to Twitter on Monday (Aug. 22) to reveal a handful of tracks slated to make the cut. Teasing a list of seven empty slots with the title “track list” above it, their collaborative effort is poised to be the “colab tape of the decade,” according to Ty.

Previously linking up on Joony’s 2021 project Silent Battles and Ty’s deluxe to Ascension: Virtual World 2, the DMV pair are truly a one-two punch on any record they hop on. Joony, who’s soaring to new heights following his work on Brent Faiyaz’s Wasteland, is experiencing a “moment” of his own. Off the back of his 10-track deluxe to PRETTY IN BLACK, the 21-year-old star is making sure his name is heard all throughout 2022.
Fontaine has been equally as potent — dropping off three projects in the span of six months. His May album Beautiful Michi Girls essentially jumpstarted his recent flood of music, as he and Joony look to continue building their brands side-by-side on the forthcoming tape.
