Lil Tecca drops new two-pack ‘NUMBER 2 / NEVER LAST’

Perhaps one of most infectious Lil Tecca drops in recent years, it’s clear that the Internet Money rapper is evolving for the better.

Sharing a new two-pack “NUMBER 2 / NEVER LAST” (May 3), Tecca’s follow-up to his latest album TEC, and viral single “Down With Me,” is just as undeniable. With swirly, funky beats fashioned by IM producers Rio Leyva, Scizzie and Taz Taylor, the near-seamless transition from “NUMBER 2” to “NEVER LAST” is just chef’s kiss.

Divulging to his past partners that they’re easy to replace–acknowledging that their relationship would’ve never lasted–Tecca admits that these shortcomings are all his fault with lines like: “I’m the reason why it’s bad / I know that we would never last / No, I can never get attached / I know it might hold me back.” Tecca initially teased “NEVER LAST” in January via Taz Taylor’s Instagram.

The Galactic Records hitmaker’s TEC debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Top 200 in September 2023, earning 41,000 first-week units upon its release. Akin to previous full-length efforts like We Love You Tecca 2 and Virgo World, Tecca’s chart prominence continues to be a force for the new generation of hitmakers, especially considering the online success of “500lbs.”

Summer is just around the corner, and Tecca is already heating up.
