Following the third installment of his BACK IN ACTION mixtape series, Midwxst returns for a heat check — delivering yet another fiery performance on his latest track “slide den” (Oct. 7).
By now, it’s evident that the Indiana-bred rapper has the sound and skillset to become a superstar, as BACK IN ACTION 3.0 further proved his ability to make any genre bend in his favor. Blending Slipknot-esque riffs with blazing fast bars and refined rage energy, his new single convincingly reasserts his top dog status in the new wave.
“slide den” showcases his knack for crafting energetic tracks that never seem to run out of gas. Paired with electric horns, sliding guitars and a distorted synth bass, Midwxst sounds as triumphant as ever — bolstered by an anthemic hook about success and how he isn’t afraid of any opposition.
Slide then, we know you not fightin’
We keep them blades on us like Attack on Titan
Okay, come slide then, we know that you hidin’
Try run up on us, hope you know that, boy, you dyin’

Using the popular anime series Attack On Titan to act as a metaphor for war, the track was initially teased by another battle-tested group of Titans. The Tennessee Titans used the song to recap their win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday (Oct. 3), sending Wxst’s fan base into a craze, only left to wonder when he would share it.

It only took days for the track to drop, though, as the teenage phenom had more good news packaged with its release. Announcing a month-long headlining tour, and a 7-show run with Dro Kenji, the star-powered pair looks to stop in cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Nashville, Philadelphia and more over the course of November. Also coinciding a handful of college shows, Kenji and Midwxst could prove to be the next big duo in the underground.
As “slide den” may be the catalyst to more music — recently teasing an upcoming collab with skaiwater — Midwxst’s eventual mainstream ascension is definitely worth buying stock in.
