YhapoJJ drops first 2024 single ‘hope ulike me’

Weeks after a raucous New York City show — that was eventually shut down and moved due to overcrowding — YhapoJJ has quickly become one of the new faces of our generation’s sound.

Alongside acts like Hardrock, untiljapan, Nettspend, xaviersobased and more, the Alabama artist continues his tear stemming from his Apple-charting project, Evolution Of Xur, with his first single of 2024, “hope ulike me.”

Crafted by Atlanta-based underground maestro feardorian — known for his eclectic, experimental production style — Yhapo is in his element on the scathing, spinning rap cut. Complemented by a cinematic visual, directed by ssagewlf, colorful strobes, drone pans and an emotive piano performance bring listeners deeper into Yhapo’s wacky world.

While Yhapo brought back “Jerk rap,” feardorian’s presence completely takes over this track. Matching the beat’s twinkling bells and oft-drum patterns, Yhapo’s ghostly ad-libs and laid-back energy makes this a pluggnb-jerk fusion worth spinning over and over. This appears to be one of many Yhapojj-feardorian collabs coming soon, according to fear on X.

Ultimately, “hope ulike me” is an embodiment of Yhapo’s quick ascent in the underground. Bringing A New Genre to the forefront of the game, referencing his tape that dropped last December, expect YhapoJJ at the top of everyone’s end of year lists once 2024 calls curtains.
