12 Honcho recruits YNW Melly for new single ‘Purple Casanova’

West Palm Beach native 12 Honcho’s stock has just skyrocketed. This is not only due to the fact that he recruited the incarcerated superstar YNW Melly for his new track “Purple Casanova” (Aug. 19), but also because the song is an absolute summer banger.

Honcho has been consistently delivering high-quality content for quite some time now, so it comes as no surprise that his latest effort is truly special. In “Purple Casanova,” fans will find a joyful, feel-good bop, giving off a relaxing, tropical vibe assisted by Honcho’s graceful melodies and elite vocals.

Midway through the track, we are greeted by one of hip-hop’s most distinctive, nasally voices, Melly the menace. The YNW captain comes in with his trademark crooning, effortlessly altering his vocals and crafting a wavy flow that fits the exotic atmosphere of the track.

Honcho actually offered some insight on the song for us at Our Generation Music, as we asked him how it came together and if there was any inspiration or anything unique behind the track.

“‘Purple Casanova’ is about getting to a parallel universe and casanovas are similar to kings. It’s about fun and that’s the type of music I like to make. I heard Melly on it as soon as I finished recording and it was originally recorded 3 years ago.”

12 Honcho to OGM

Unfortunately, due to Melly’s situation, we may not hear another collaboration between 12 Honcho and YNW Melly for quite some time. However, fans should expect plenty of new music from Honcho very soon, as the hip-hop up-and-comer continues to showcase his extensive musical talents.
