21 Savage unveils new album ‘AMERICAN DREAM: THE 21 SAVAGE STORY’

21 Savage’s story is worth writing about. The London-born, Atlanta-raised rapper has become a household name due to collaborations with Drake, J. Cole and Metro Boomin, among others, over the years.

Solo albums in Issa Album and i am > i was bolstered Savage’s standing in the rap game, but none quite like his collaborative efforts with Metro (Savage Mode, Without Warning, Savage Mode II) and Drake (Her Loss). This makes his third studio album, american dream, all the more important: Savage has something to prove, and probably more so than ever at this point in his career.

Releasing his first solo album since 2018, the 15-track project — which features the likes of Travis Scott, Summer Walker, Brent Faiyaz, Doja Cat, Burna Boy, Metro Boomin and more — amercian dream is a triumph for Savage who embodies the coast-to-coast spirit of feeding your passion, no matter how harsh the journey is.

Eyeing a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200, trending to sell between 130-150K first-week units, 21 has seemingly overcome any sort of solo slump. Substance, tasteful sample-clad beats and a defining message all provide a balanced nature to the record. Its coinciding film with the same name — set to premiere on July 4 — also alludes to its underlying mantra of family ties: “blood being thicker than water.”

As far as the Fourth Of July film, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) and Stranger ThingsCaleb McLaughin will star as younger versions of 21 later this summer. The trailer, released on Jan. 8, also features a cameo from Druski, Natasha Leone and other notable faces.
