Armani White builds on successful summer with new single ‘DIAMOND DALLAS’

Thanks to his recent summer smash-hit “BILLIE EILISH,” which has reached 37 million Spotify streams since its release in mid-May, Armani White has been stacking up wins left and right. This success led to him inking a deal with Def Jam in late July, which is monumental considering he had only put out one single in 2022 at the time.

But now, still feeling the residual effects of this signing, Armani released his latest single “DIAMOND DALLAS” on Aug. 5, inspired by the early 2000s WWE star.

In what has become a signature approach for White, the punchy, powerful 808s on the trap beat emphasize his eccentric bars. Opening the song with his grateful hook about being able to go back to his neighborhood after blowing up, the verses on “DIAMOND DALLAS” could certainly be considered his best to date.

The true sh*t don’t get bars enough

Them viewings ain’t apartment hunts, it’s partial luck

Mad it up out this b*tch and got my guns quick

Got youngins who gon’ dump sh*t

Wonder how I run sh*t? (Well)

I fought a lot of n****s at the functions

If I could do it all again, I woulda jumped ’em

These cutthroat bars over joyful production define the term “happy hood music” that Armani has used to describe his sound. The accompanying music video matches perfectly with the song’s content, as he includes a clip of him celebrating his Def Jam contract with his mom and turns up with his hometown community.

Looking forward, Armani is set to drop an EP sometime this fall, which has yet to be given a release date or title. With “DIAMOND DALLAS” being a glimpse of what fans should expect from the Philly artist in the future, it would appear Def Jam did a great job scouting for talent.
