Marino Infantry CEO A$AP Ant has been a staple of the A$AP Mob since its inception, elevating the collective with both his elite taste in fashion and eclectic ear for beats.
Dropping a new album over the weekend (May 13) that features the likes of A$AP Rocky, A$AP Twelvyy, Lil B, Curren$y, OHGEESY and more, Ant is on another level this time around — bringing a refined touch to traditionally grittier music on Lil Black Jean Jacket 3.
On tracks like “3AM in New Orleans” and “Chávez vs Whitaker,” Ant combines jazzy instrumentals with trap flows alongside Curren$y and OHGEESY respectively, while “WWE No Mercy” and “Spizzle Go Crazy Freestyle” showcase an eerie, aggressive delivery over powerful 808s.
A couple of recurring characters from Ant’s previous projects make appearances as Lil 2 Dow, Lulu P and Soduh come back for the third installment of the Lil Black Jean Jacket trilogy. A$AP Ant’s usage of both well-known artists and his own close friends proves his thoughtfulness coming into his eighth studio album, curating each track down to the last vocal.
Back in March, Rocky showed out for “The God Hour,” a trippy cut off of the recently released project — complete with a 2007 Memphis hip-hop sample and psychedelic visuals. This single would foreshadow the sonic quality of Lil Black Jean Jacket 3, pushing Ant into the spotlight of the A$AP Mob for the first time in years.
As A$AP Ant takes his career to the next level — whether it be another Marino Infantry drop or another project in the making — be sure to keep a close on Ant’s next moves.
