Florida has proven to be a cultural hotspot for rising rap talent, just as much as Atlanta and New York over the years. With acts like XXXTENTACION, Ski Mask The Slump God, Kodak Black. and now BLP Kosher, the “Jew on a Canoe” has taken over the rap game with his signature brand of off-kilter bars.
The Broward County native has been on everyone’s radar since striking gold with viral tracks like “The Nac,” “Special K” and “Mazel Tron” with BabyTron and Cole Bennett. Following up his debut album Bars Mitzvah in August, the Sunshine State spitter dropped off a pair of singles this month: “Violent Lullaby” with Yung Lean (Dec. 1) and “SKRR SKRR” featuring fellow Floridian G6reddot (Dec. 7).
Kosher, known for his wordplay and double entendres, is a perfect compliment to G6reddot and his unfiltered flow on “SKRR SKRR.” The duo effortlessly slide over the menacing production embodying the chemistry between them. Accompanied by a video directed by G6 himself, it visualizes his creatively while showcasing the brotherly-bond he has with BLP Kosher as they turn up with the homies.
“Violent Lullaby” sees Kosher and Yung Lean mesh their styles effortlessly together. The dreamscape production allows both alt-emcees to float of quirky bells and sliding horns that feel like you’re stuck on a boss level in Super Mario. Lean’s hook catches your attention, but the jump-scare beat switch sees Kosher tear off a barrage of bars within the track’s final 30 seconds — a finale worth multiple replays. It’s one of Kosher’s most unique and complete tracks to date, not to mention the sheer superstar prowess of Lean backing his raps.
Waking up from a “Violent Lullaby,” it’s no secret that Kosher isn’t wasting any time in proving himself as the next up from Florida — and with his entire career ahead of him, he definitely won’t disappoint.
