FKA twigs is like an angel: Rarely seen yet often spoken of. But this week, our savior returns to us with her newest single “Killer.”
Though only a few months have passed since the London-based singer/songwriter released her newest project CAPRISONGS, twigs returns with full force this week on her experimental new banger.
Fresh off her Tiny Desk performance, FKA twigs’ “Killer” is an exploration of the disillusionment of romances gone wrong, and the pain that resonates long after the final words have been spoken. Though “Killer” is a monument to pain and suffering, FKA twigs’ new track is also a love letter to healing, restoration, and learning to love once more.
FKA twigs took to Twitter to reveal a few tender details about her newest El Guincho-assisted single.
“’it’s dangerous to be a woman in love’ when at its worst the effects of heart break can define one’s trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself, in my song killer i explore this concept. the navigation, the hunt and the kill. the death of promises… dreams and the future that was once promised. but like the wildest plucked roses, i find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solice, darkened at the edges and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.”FKA twigs, Twitter
Though it might be unwise to expect a new record from FKA twigs anytime soon, it seems clear that the young artist has been keeping herself busy both inside and outside of the studio. Through twigs’ infinite wisdom on “Killer,” she strives to convey a powerful PSA about the power of love and the pain of recovery.
