Hotboii and Kodak Black are holding it down for the Sunshine State, as both Florida emcees showcased their chemistry on their latest collaboration “Live Life Die Faster” (July 1).
Although Hotboii’s star is rising at a rapid rate in the street-centric pockets of the new wave, the 22-year-old rapper is in the midst of battling a slew of ongoing legal issues. On June 30, the Orlando native turned himself in after a judge revoked his bond in an indicted RICO case. Hotboii shared a video to his Instagram page shortly after, as he was seen in a prayer circle moments before turning himself in.
Amid Hotboii’s legal woes, “Live Life Die Faster” seems to be an accurate representation of how the hip-hop star is currently feeling. Fans hear a heartfelt performance from Hotboii, full of raw emotion as he pours his thoughts and feelings all over the track. Melodically rapping about expressing his feelings through pen and paper, he references a significant other that has ultimately left a lasting imprint on him. Kodak kills his feature verse utilizing his authentic South Florida cadence and effortless flows over the instrumental.
I feel like dyin’
I feel like dyin’
Waterfall be drippin’ sauce
And my tears start drippin’ now
What if they don’t play my song?
