Since blowing up from On The Radar’s viral Concrete Cypher, KARRAHBOOO has been inescapable.
Drawing comparisons to a “female Veeze,” the Lil Yachty-signed emcee’s latest single “Running Late” is admittedly her most infectious track to date. Linking up with fellow Atlanta native ANYCIA for “Splash Brothers” (fitting of their unmissable come-ups) on the same day, KARRAHBOOO doubled down on her momentum with a hypnotizing, bar-heavy performance that boldly paints a picture of her life.
She’s attested that her music means more than what most women in rap speak on, and the hook on “Running Late” is further evidence of her narrative prowess. Skating over the quirky, Detroit-adjacent beat (courtesy of Gentlebeatz Young Blake), lines like, “My family worry ’bout me, hear it in my music / Mama scared for me to get a gun ’cause she know I’ma use it / Floatin’ off a Roxy and a bar, feel so therapeutic / Want me to stop takin’ all these drugs, she hate how I abuse it,” enthrall listeners into Karrah’s world unabashedly.

The visual for “Running Late” (directed by Concrete’s in-house shooter AMD Visuals) feels like a hazy excursion you take with your friends after a mid-day session, as KARRAHBOOO bluntly blows off steam stunting the one-and-only “Concrete Girl” chain. Peering through a glass that mimics stretched mirrors at a carnival, a cameo from Boat clad in orange camouflage elevates the hazy color grade throughout. It ends with Karrah enjoying time with her family, timely of the track’s release on Thanksgiving night.
Going from Lil Yachty’s assistant to performing with Veeze in his native Detroit, there’s no telling how high KARRAHBOOO’s ceiling will be.
