Lil Yachty pulled through on his promise, sharing two new tracks on Friday (Aug. 4).
His latest offerings in “Slide” and “Solo Steppin Crete Boy” arrive off the heels of Boat’s hit single “Strike (Holster).” Packaged with “the two new songs,” the Let’s Start Here emcee has been on a recent streak of fresh-pressed music — updating his coveted “leak system” SoundCloud profile with a slew of new songs on July 21.
Armed with production from GENT! and Bangs (“Slide”) as well as Childboy and Max Flames (“Solo Steppin Crete Boy”), Boat continues to float forward with his whimiscal vocal chain, tearing off a barrage of bars in between infectiously sung hooks. “Slide” is the more experimental of the two, while “Solo Steppin Crete Boy” showcases Yachty’s off-kilter flow reminiscent of his work on Michigan Boy Boat.
