New year, new music, but the same NBA YoungBoy.
What makes an artist like YoungBoy so special is his consistency when it comes to releasing music. Whether that be singles, tapes, albums, EP’s, etc — the 22-year-old always delivers something fresh and new for his extremely loyal fanbase. Just last night the Louisiana native delivered his first single and video of 2022 — along with some big news.
His new track is titled “Fish Scale,” and follows his most recent release “Emo Rockstar.”
“Fish Scale” comes with accompanying visuals and to make things even better, YoungBoy announced a new mixtape in the video’s description — set to release in “less than two weeks.”
Although YoungBoy has recently spent most of his time on house arrest, he’s managed to stay plenty busy and keep himself productive. He’s found a new style and aesthetic for himself, he’s been making hits and mixtapes (supposedly), shooting music videos, teasing snippets via Triller and even connecting with fans on apps like Clubhouse.
“Fish Scale” is his most recent at-home hit and video to arrive on YouTube. The song is filled with an excessive amount of energy and YoungBoy’s iconic yet aggressive, state-of-the-art flow. The passion and power that YoungBoy possesses throughout the track is unmatched. It’s the type of song needed for heavy speakers and or a bassed-out car stereo.
She on roxies, and this b*tch on hard.
I got percs and celie, X, and xanax bars
We got big extensions that protect my heart
Know we set like concrete, man

Despite YoungBoy being limited to just his house to shoot music videos in, his visuals have become quite creative considering his circumstance. “Fish Scale” displays YoungBoy in his room recording, chilling in his garage and car and in what appears to be his basement — seated in a green, LED-lit room as he flexes his bread and raps along to the track.
YoungBoy has zero plans of slowing down — starting his year off with an absolute banger and some huge news. Although we don’t have much information on his upcoming project, be on the lookout for his upcoming tape — set to release no more than two weeks from now.
In the meantime, listen to “Fish Scale” below!
