NYC favorites B-Lovee, A Boogie team up for latest collab ‘Boom Boom’

The Bronx has become a hub for New York City’s hard-hitting drill wave, and now two of the Bronx’s biggest stars have linked up for a new collab. A Boogie and B-Lovee connected for their second joint effort this month over the weekend — bringing forth perhaps one of the best drill-hybrid tracks yet.

On “Boom Boom,” B-Lovee’s signature raspy delivery and Bronx drill flow perfectly contrasts with A Boogie’s melodic vocals — trading off lines at frequent intervals to create a dynamic, catchy and unmistakably New York track by tapping into two of the city’s most distinct sounds of the last five years.

Given the unorthodox cadence and hyper-stylized nature of the NY drill genre, it can sometimes be hard to collaborate with non-drill artists. However, B-Lovee seems well up to the task as he seamlessly and confidently trades bars over smooth trap production (by DLo and MoneyEvery) with one of the biggest superstars out of NYC in the last decade

With this new release, B-Lovee continues to elevate the hard-edged, sample-heavy sound that he helped pioneer alongside close collaborators like Kay Flock and Dougie B — continuing the winning formula of combining his gritty Bronx drill flow with unexpectedly light melodies, creating broad-appeal smash hits like “IYKYK” and “Neaky.” Fans can learn more about the rise of B-Lovee, Kay Flock and Dougie B in Kay Flock’s OGM interview with Hakeem Rowe.

In addition to several music video cameos, B-Lovee and A Boogie have linked up before — likely on account of the apparent close ties between their respective Courtlandt and Highbridge camps. Earlier this month, they teamed up for A Boogie’s “Hit Different,” appearing alongside one another for a cinematic, fight club-themed visual. Last year, A Boogie jumped on the remix of “My Everything” — the Cash Cobain-produced surprise hit and one of B-Lovee’s biggest tracks to date, second only to “IYKYK.”

Overall, “Boom Boom” is an impressive outing from B-Lovee that hints at a broader range of possibilities for what should be expected from his upcoming project, Courtlandtbaby II, which is set to release later this month. Stayed tuned as the young Bronx drill phenom continues to push the boundaries and put on for his borough in the process.
