Rod Wave just launched his nationwide “Beautiful Mind Tour” on Nov. 11, joined by Toosii and Mariah The Scientist. Beginning in Minneapolis, the month-and-a-half long tour puts the finishing touches on the rollout for Rod’s latest August album Beautiful Mind, which he explained in a now-deleted tweet in June would be his “last sad ass album.”
So, as if to turn a new leaf into a new method of artistry, Rod Wave has now given fans even more new music before the year’s end. On Nov. 18, he delivered his brand new 8-song EP Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory.
This release comes just two weeks after he announced the EP and a week after he dropped the project’s lead single “Break My Heart” on Nov. 10. Accompanied by a music video, “Break My Heart” samples Sam Smith‘s “Love Me More” from earlier this year, bringing the best out of Rod visually and performance-wise with hard-hitting trap drums and a slick guitar loop.
Initially, Jupiters Theory was meant to drop before the tour started on Nov. 11, but the official release stills allow a good majority of fans to listen to it before they get to see him live.
Each year it seems Rod Wave likes to remind listeners why he’s the king of his soul rap sub-genre, and 2022’s album and now recent EP have helped to solidify that title for him once again.
