TiaCorine recruits Key Glock, Luh Tyler, BNYX for new EP ‘Almost There’

2023 was a year of growth for TiaCorine.

Following her breakout single “FreakyT” in 2022, the North Carolina artist has defiantly earned her flowers since. Being placed on XXL’s 2023 Freshman Class and performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Tia’s star power is more than just apparent: it’s solidified.

While her debut album, I Can’t Wait, was the start of her journey, she’s no where near where she wants to be — recapturing her quirky, hard-hitting essence on her latest project Almost There.

Leading in the mixtape with singles in “Bonnet” and “Yung Joc” featuring Luh Tyler, the 8-track EP is the first step towards a full-length record later this year. Featuring Tyler, Key Glock (“Blick”) and Zelooperz (“Olive,” which also touts production from BNYX), Almost There is a small dose of Tia’s off-the-cuff, energetic soundscape.

“Bonnet” proves to be the most eccentric of the bunch, opting for a brash, quickly-rapped verse that feels like a high speed chase in Tokyo. As for the rest of the tape, Almost There thrives on blitzing new wave-esque vibes. “Shamone” and “Nah He Tweakin” employs more of Tia’s bubbly personality and high-pitched ad-libs, while “Give No F**k” and “Burnt” prove to be unabashed anthems filled with distorted 808s and hooky melodies.

Amid Almost There‘s release, Tia shows no signs of slowing down. “I plan on doing an album, a tour, but [these projects] are going to be a little bit of everything,” she told us at Lollapalooza last August. “That’s just me. I want my sound to be all over the place all the time. I want to give fans a different feeling every time they listen.”

With her major label EP, a forthcoming album and her first headlining tour kicking off in March, TiaCorine is eyeing a career year ahead.
