Tommy Richman has the summer on lock. Off the strength of his inescapable, viral hit “Million Dollar Baby,” the DMV rising star continues to build momentum towards his debut album, COYOTE, with his new single “DEVIL IS A LIE.”
Injecting the game with funky, undeniably infectious grooves, “Devil Is A Lie” evidently mirrors the hit-making prowess of “Million Dollar Baby.” Popping the shocks of a classic low-rider in its teaser, Richman tears off ear-worming lines about being the top dog in a devilish tone. “But you got no confidence like me / Only when I run around you chase me / I’m not no Travis, baby, not no Chase B,” he raps. “I work too hard, can you f**kin’ pay me? / I did so much, you did it with me, and I’m not alone.” The lo-fi music video even boasts a cameo from fellow DMV native Nettspend.

If you weren’t familiar with the 2024 Artist To Watch prior to “Million Dollar Baby,” Tommy Richman has become an underground force now trailblazing his way through mainstream circuits; he’s anything but an overnight sensation. Signing to Brent Faiyaz’s ISO Supremacy collective—which was announced through stellar features on Faiyaz’s LARGER THAN LIFE mixtape in 2023—Tommy’s sound is tinged with nostalgia and utter coolness, showcasing his ability to weave between electro-R&B and alternative sounds with ease.
In anticipation of his debut album (due out later this year), Richman ignited COYOTE‘s rollout with a two-track EP, SOULCRUSHER, in February. Along with “GHOSTS N GHOULS,” “SELFISH,” “Million Dollar Baby” and now “Devil Is A Lie,” Richman is feeding fans with music that nobody else is able to make or mimic.
