It’s been an eventful week for Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and company.
After taking over the GRAMMYs red carpet with his wife Bianca Censori, whose now infamous nude carpet walk has taken the internet by storm (being searched over 10 MILLION times in the past 48 hours), Ye is preparing for a legendary run in 2025.
Sitting down with Justin LaBoy on The Download, Ye spoke on a slew of hot topics such as his thoughts on Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar, mentoring North West as she prepares to drop her first album, his upcoming album BULLY, his mental health issues (revealing he has a form of autism after believing he suffered from bipolar disorder) and using AI in his music. “[AI] is like the version of sampling,” Ye said, as his engineer demonstrates how AI can warp Ye’s vocals.
Ye then goes on a tear talking about how he’s “the only one” who can stand up to the billionaires in charge of the music industry, calling out UMG CEO Lucian Grange directly. He even speaks on his longstanding tiff with Drake and his battle against Kendrick Lamar, saying that although Kendrick “took out [his] nemesis,” you can’t ever count out the 6 God.
“If you rap against Kendrick Lamar, you will lose,” he said. “[But] you can’t ever count out Steph Curry [speaking on Drake]… That man might drop 200 points in one song.” This quote came out days before Drake and PND announced their joint project $$$4U, as Ye’s anticipated album BULLY is set to drop on North West’s birthday, June 15.
Amidst the madness, we pulled up to Ye’s private GRAMMYs afterparty this week. Check out some of our exclusive shots below!
