It doesn’t matter that VULTURES 2 arrived at 4 a.m. Saturday morning (Aug. 3) nearly eight months after its initially scheduled release (March 8). It’s finally here—and more importantly finished.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign reunite for their second effort as the collective ¥$, dropping the 16-track VULTURES 2 featuring Playboi Carti, Young Thug, Don Toliver, Kodak Black, Future and Lil Wayne. It is now available on all digital streaming platforms despite its previously-exclusive release on Spotify.
“Lots of changes coming,” Donda Times revealed on X, as Kanye West albums have always been a living, breathing, evolving entity. More songs have been added throughout the past week, including “BELIEVER,” “DRUNK” and “GUN TO MY HEAD.” There’s also fear of the album being stricken from DSPs, per Ye on his Instagram Stories. This will be revealed in due time, though.
Among the tracklist, “RIVER” with the incarcerated Thugger, “FIELD TRIP” with Carti, Kodak and Hardstone Psycho president Don Toliver, “Sky City,” “5:30” and the album’s lead single “SLIDE” — which dropped Friday (Aug. 2) — prove to be instant highlights and were teased throughout the pair’s various VULTURES listening events. The album was originally slated to drop on March 8, but was delayed to May 8, leading to its release this weekend (Aug. 3). Like most of Ye’s recent rollouts, a multitude of listening events have been scheduled, with two prepped and planned for Taiwan and Korea in late August.
VULTURES 1 dropped on January 23, 2024 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The viral “CARNIVAL” featuring Playboi Carti and Rich The Kid peaking No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. V2 debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, selling 107,000 first-week units (60.5K pure sales), via Hits Daily Double.
