Young Nudy unleashes ‘EA MONSTER’ with new album

East Atlanta native and PDE “Rich Shooter” Young Nudy is back with another banger tape — sharing his third project in just over a year with EA Monster (Aug. 8).

Dropping both DR. EV4L (May) and Rich Shooter (August) back in 2021, Nudy’s year-long album streak sees the the 29-year-old rapper turn more heads toward his hard-hitting, cinematic street swagger. Holding a total of 11 tracks, EAM is Nudy’s 10th studio album since releasing his debut mixtape Slimeball in 2016.

As one of the most underrated emcees in hip-hop’s trap lane, Nudy’s respect and skin in the game is second to none — collaborating with rappers such as his cousin 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert and G Herbo. However, on EA Monster, Nudy surprisingly flies solo for the most of the record — with the exception of Baby Drill, who appears on the album’s lead single, “Dunstane.” Despite his decision to keep EAM focused on his own performance, Nudy enlisted a pair of legendary producers to captain the LP, bringing in both Pi’erre Bourne and Coupe.

Having worked with Nudy on their collaborative project, Sli’merre, in 2019 — which includes hits such as “Sunflower Seeds” and “Extendo” with Lil Uzi Vert — Bourne’s patented, melody-driven trap production offers an otherwordly bounce to EAM’s calming yet rambunctious soundscape.

On highlights such as, “KitKat” and “Lunch Meat,” Nudy puts his versatility on full display — keenly finding pockets to switch-up from casually rapping to spitting fast-paced bars with ease. On another standout, “My Gang,” he speaks on his upbringing in East Atlanta, detailing harsh lines about his experience growing up in the streets. “No Chaser” also sees Nudy impress by bodying a more experimental beat filled with video game-like laser loops spearheaded by Coupe and Bourne.

Pull up on the block, I got the P’s on me, twenty five hunnid for these

Know I just show love to my hood, you ain’t from my hood, I up-up the fee (Yeah)

Takin’ the risk, this shit is not cheap, makin’ money every day of the week

Makin’ money off the booth, the beef, I’m trappin’ and scammin’ the hoes of these streets (Yeah)

“My Gang” – Young Nudy

As an artist, consistency is one of Nudy’s most quality characteristics. Even with a heavy discography and multiple bangers behind him, Nudy is massively overlooked and underrated in the game — reasserting his talent and ear over some of the most original beat choices we’ve heard this year.

Still building on and innovating his classic Atlanta trap cadence, EA MONSTER is a inimitable example of what Nudy has turned into: A trap monster.
