His latest single “O boy!” came correct with a now-mandatory visual by the underground’s top director DotComNirvan, as well as a first-of-its-kind merch collab with the underground visual powerhouse. With “o boy!” Yvngxchris picks up right where he left off, showcasing his signature rapid-fire flow and carefree bars at their best with a flip of an iconic beat — adjusting the title of Cam’s Grammy-nominated 2002 hit “Oh Boy” to the more underground-friendly “o boy!”
With captivating production from Internet Money’s multi-platinum producer Cxdy, he creates the perfect pocket needed for Chris’ unrelenting, energetic delivery — coming together to create a nonstop whirlwind for the one-minute long rollercoaster ride.
The eye-popping pink-themed visual handled by Nirvan perfectly displays the energy Yvngxchris is delivering within his tightly-packed bars. Shots from inside a lavish mansion to behind the wheel of a classic hot-pink Corvette, the track’s hard-hitting production is accentuated by crisp edits and some super clean, anime-style animation by LeesGotAsthma. Throughout the video, Chris is rocking a pink all-over print hoodie — doubling as an awesome commercial for the new DotComCrash collection drop.
With “o boy!”, Yvngxchris revisits his winning formula of flipping beloved classic samples into high energy, new school bangers — in the same vein that he flipped “Blood on the Leaves” for his controversial breakout hit. Now with the backing of Columbia Records, it will be interesting to watch as the underground sensation continues to develop his sound and inches closer to the mainstream.
