Destroy Lonely delivers five new songs on ‘NS+ ULTRA’

While Playboi Carti is stuck in hibernation, his Opium pupils in Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely have dominated the year — emerging from the underground with their recent studio albums X and NO STYLIST. After touring together on Carson’s “The X_Man Tour” earlier this year, Lonely has added even more excitement to his already explosive year.

With this deluxe version of NO STYLIST — which he has dubbed NS+ ULTRA — the new wave hitmaker’s return on Friday (Nov. 18) comes just over three months after the album’s release. Containing five new tracks for fans, NS+ ULTRA came just before Lonely’s 20-date “NO STYLIST TOUR,” which begins on Nov. 22 and ends on Dec. 21.

Along with this release, the joint music video for “BLITZ” and “ALLURE” dropped, depicting Lonely turning up surrounded by an all-natural, scenic view.

In September, the Opium rapper first announced the NS “ULTRA” edition. Along with this, he tweeted-then-deleted the title for his next album, If Looks Could Kill, which has yet to be given a release date or track list.

For the nearly two years leading up to NO STYLIST, fans of Destroy Lonely had to resort to snippets, leaks, old projects and SoundCloud-exclusive releases to tide them over. So, it is fair to assume that these five songs in this “ULTRA” pack such as “HAVINMYWAY” and “LOUVRE” could be tracks that fans had been waiting for months to release.

While Lonely is part of Carti’s Opium camp, and considering he has delayed releases in the past, fans should probably proceed with a bit of caution while waiting for If Looks Could Kill, especially since a release date was never specified.

But, now that NS+ ULTRA is here, especially while we are still feeling the powerful effects of August’s killer LP, this release surely bolsters Lonely’s place at the top of new wave leadership.
