Glaive shares Spotify exclusive two-pack of acoustic performances

It’s undeniable by now that Glaive is a superstar in his own right. Since dropping the deluxe to his critically-acclaimed EP, All Dogs Go To Heaven, in January, the North Carolina-based crooner’s appeal and notoriety has grown ten-fold. Now holding over 2 million Spotify monthly listeners, he’s come a long way since releasing his breakout hit “Astrid” and cypress grove from his bedroom two summers ago.

His borderless soundscape and sure-fire track presence — evident on hits like “clover,” “1984,” “bastard” and his latest “minnesota is a place that exists” — make him a talent to behold among hyperpop’s pioneers. While Glaive naturally toes the line between traditional pop and hyperpop, he partnered with Spotify this week (July 27) for a more unplugged approach to his iridescent allure.

Sharing a “Spotify Singles” two-pack with acoustic renditions of Death Cab for Cutie’s “i will follow you into the dark” and “minnesota is a place that exists,” Glaive continues to refresh listeners by offering a stripped-back sub-section of his catalog.

“I will follow you into the dark” is a total switch-up of Glaive’s electronic-laced cuts — taking a more “off the beaten path” vibe to Death Cab’s highest-streamed hit. Backed by a softly-strummed acoustic guitar, his vocals enthrall listeners to new depths. It’s a love song through and through, sparked by the somber melodies that transport listeners into a blissful refrain that leads Glaive into the unknown — wearing his heart on his sleeve.

As one of hyperpop’s leading voices, he continues to showcase his presence as a budding pop icon catered for both the next Gen and now. Touting close ties to The Kid LAROI — joining the “Thousand Miles” star on his “End Of The World” tour this summer — both Glaive and LAROI are set to (hopefully) reunite at Lollapalooza (July 28-31) in Chicago.

The timing is perfect to unveil these unplugged gems live on stage, and it seems that Glaive knows that too. Here’s hoping these tracks make it to Lolla’s main stage this weekend.
