Tory Lanez, Trippie Redd bring long-awaited leak ‘Hurts Me’ to DSPs

Despite being behind bars, Tory Lanez is still making waves.

Over the past month, the Toronto singer’s unreleased track “Hurts Me” has been nearly inescapable — finding its way on social media as one of TikTok and Reels’ most popular sounds. The scratched Alone at Prom cut, which was Lanez’ enigmatic 1980s-themed album from 2021, was finally brought to digital streaming platforms on Friday (June 30) to the praise of longtime fans and savvy social users.

Crafted by Lanez, Yoko Gold and featuring Trippie Redd, who announced the track amid his rollout of A Love Letter To You 5, Tory’s rich vocals, mixed with his alluring melodies make for his irresistible hook that makes it tough to stop spinning. Adding to the irresistibility of the time-warping track, Redd delivered his portion of the song which consists of distinctive crooning that’s evidently “out of sight, out of mind.”

Aside from his latest effort, Lanez is currently facing a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison if he’s convicted for carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle; along with allegations that he personally used a firearm and inflicted great bodily injury to Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Lanez was officially charged in October 2020 with a felony count of assault. His new sentencing date will commence on Aug. 7.
