Detroit’s Babyface Ray picked up a load of new fans in 2021 with his Unfuckwitable album, which included eye-catching collaborations with Jack Harlow, Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee and more.
Now, he looks to ride that momentum into the new year, as FACE seems to be taking shape as one of 2022’s hardest-hitting street-centric albums.
Announcing the tracklist on Monday (Jan. 25), Ray’s FACE is set to feature a slew of A-list guests in Wiz Khalifa, Icewear Vezzo, G Herbo, Yung Lean and more. Along with sharing his upcoming LP’s set, the rising star also dropped the album’s second single “Sincerely Face,” as Ray floats and finesses his bars over signature Detroit style production.

FACE’s lead single “Dancing With The Devil” (released on Jan. 14) was a moment for Ray when he announced his album, featuring Landstrip Chip and Virginia coke-rap OG Pusha T. The song is a poised, reflective cut about how far people, including yourself, will go on to sustain themselves — regardless of morality. East Atlanta singer Landstrip Chip provides the backbone for the track with his tone-setting hook about not letting his guard down, sung similarly to a Jeremih or The-Dream chorus.
Babyface Ray’s first verse exposes the tendencies of fakes in his life, and touches on the methods he uses to keep his chin up in tough circumstances. Even when he does everything right, the ungrateful people in his life still make him seem like the villain, which he depicts masterfully in his bars.
Watch ’em flock when you having your way
They say love get you killed, gotta diе anyway
Thugs got feelings too, had to stay in the rain
I’m disguisin’ the pain, traumatized from thе game

After another rendition of the harmonious hook, Pusha T takes control of the track with a cunning, scintillating verse about his understanding of the movements of those in his life, particularly the scamming women he encounters.
She hop in every flight, she fuckin’ who she want
Take the words out your mouth just before it leave your tongue
Bottega from her purse to her pumps
Heart eyes every first of the month
Sugar daddy, she call me honey bun

As Babyface Ray looks to take over the Detroit scene in 2022, best believe he has the ability and work ethic to emerge as one of this year’s breakout rapstars.
