Dave East Classic New York Remix: Dave East drops off a fire single as fans wait patiently for HOFFA — his album produced by Harry Fraud and curated by Westside Gunn.
This single dropped after the Mass Appeal artist premiered his album at an art gallery in Buffalo, New York. Griselda Records’ Westside Gunn has been assigned to the art of this project, commissioning artist Marcella Angela to portray Dave East in a similar fashion to famous activist and union boss, Jimmy Hoffa. Gunn is coming off an impressive curation of Mach-Hommy’s multifaceted Pray For Haiti — an album that has been widely regarded as one this year’s most complete and enjoyable projects.
East’s “They Gotta Hate Us” features a fast-paced instrumental that shocks the listener with frantic strings and a complex drum pattern. The track is a remix to the Cam’ron classic, “You Gotta Love It, as East is able to hit one-liner after one-liner, aggressively claiming his stake in the rap game.
Harry Fraud also has had a busy year — working with Benny the Butcher, Curren$y and Jim Jones already on three seperate projects in 2021. The legendary producer is looking to reassert his place in the game with another New York MC in Dave East.
East is poised to drop another solid project after 2020’s acclaimed Karma 3. With the help of both Gunn and Fraud, his upcoming tape is looking to serve as a staple for cornerstone New York hip-hop.
Fan can not only expect to be getting some classic sounds, but some new vibes from East and company. With him, Gunn and Fraud at the helm, it looks as if East is ready to take things to a whole new level.
