While DDG always seen success as a streamer and influencer, but the past year or so has brought him notoriety as a rapper as well.
Tunes from his debut album Die 4 Respect such as smash-hit “Moonwalking in Calabasas (Remix)” with Blueface and “Hood Melody” with NBA YoungBoy made him eligible to be a 2021 XXL Freshman.
After establishing himself as a notable lyricist and providing versatile emotional cuts, DDG has taken his momentum and ran with it. Dropping a pair of singles over the course of this week, DDG offered his new cut “No Kizzy” Monday (Nov. 29) — filled with bombastic production and bold bars throughout.
On Nov. 21, DDG released his single “Midwest Flow” to streaming platforms, which saw him return to his up-tempo, energized rapping roots. The track and its music video were originally added to YouTube in mid-July.
On “Midwest Flow,” DDG flexes his promiscuity, explaining that women would cheat on their man with him.
I’m the hottest n***a out so all these bitches wanna fuck with me

Never sweat a ho, I do not care if we in fuckin’ heat
Pistol never leave a n***a side, that BB stuck to me
“Midwest Flow” — DDG
While the verses are brief and the song is a quaint less than two minutes, DDG’s impact is felt over the west coast production. “Midwest Flow” sees some of his most comfortable rapping and boldest lyricism.
