Destroy Lonely comfirms upcoming album ‘If Looks Could Kill’ with lead single

Destroy Lonely’s highly-anticipated album IF LOOKS COULD KILL appears to be just weeks away, according to the “top floor boss” via Tumblr.

The Opium superstar, revealed ILCK’s release for April on the platform. “My album comes out in April,” he wrote responding to a fan who doubted Lone’s claims of being “lazy with 2 and a half albums done.”

The 21-year-old rapper has used Tumblr to preview numerous tracks and snippets in recent months, initially alluding to IF LOOKS COULD KILL and a forthcoming joint tape with Opium labelmate Ken Carson on the Bootleg Kev Podcast. Lone later shared the title track to his upcoming project “if looks could kill” on Friday (March 3) to the surprise of fans, performing the long-teased single during his enigmatic Rolling Loud performance on March 3.

Lone doubled down on confirmations for both forthcoming projects with Gabe P on On The Radar Radio this week. “My next album is called ‘IF LOOKS COULD KILL,’ and I feel like that’s going to be a better version of myself — elevated from what I showed y’all on ‘NO STYLIST,’” he said. “That’s what I’m going to release next. Then, I got this project with Ken we getting together to put out for y’all.”

“You can expect the fullest version of me that I’ve shared with the world. I’m just making the music that I want to make… if looks could kill is my project, it’s not for y’all. It’s for me and for y’all to see me.”

Amid news of Lonely’s next project, he and prolific director JMP teamed up for a stark, winter-themed double visual for “NEVEREVER / FAKENGGAS” on Monday (Feb. 20). Both tracks appear on Destroy Lonely’s debut album No Stylist and its deluxe NS+ ULTRAwhich the Atlanta native has toured since late November 2022.

Cruising through glistening snow banks in “NEVEREVER,” “FAKENGGAS” contrasts the open-air feel of the video’s preceding scenes. Lonely stands axe-clad in the Tahoe forest’s evergreens with blood trailing toward his feet. The only light is a shaky flashlight used to find Lone alone in darkness, which is signature Opium for fans of their dark aesthetic.

Whenever IF LOOKS COULD KILL officially drops, expect it to send shockwaves through the underground — ultimately waking up mainstream crowds to Lonely’s undeniable star power.
