Brooklyn drill icon Dusty Locane has continuously solidified his spot in the New York rap scene with a sound that embodies the hardcore lifestyle of rappers like him in the trenches. Building his acclaimed status even more, Dusty gave us yet another offering with his Halloween-themed release NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH on Oct. 31.
Timed perfectly for the holiday, Locane taps 3Kizzy and SFIV5 for 15 tracks of terror, snagging a few verses from some local talent along the way. This project shows Dusty’s clear loyalty to his origins, putting on for his neighborhood in a huge way.
One third of the project is solo tracks from Dusty, while the rest feature help from his associates, as well as a solo track each for 3Kizzy and SFIV5. The timing of this project couldn’t be better, as the New Yorkers channel their spooky spirit on every track, rapping about real-life horrors over ominous instrumentals.
This marks the third project Locane has taken a major role in, the first of which being his debut project UNTAMED. The second was a collaborative project with Ron Suno and Rah Swish titled SAY DAT, presenting eight songs from a variety of combinations of rappers.
Even though the Halloween season has come to a close, it would still be a disservice to yourself to not listen to this project. Leading into the end of the year, Dusty has proven himself with both quality and quantity again, setting expectations high for 2023.
