Atlanta legend Future has had a feature run for the ages, and honestly, has lasted almost his entire career — dropping quality verses all throughout 2021.
Enjoying an off year with no album or mixtape release, the trap pioneer’s eclectic guest spots continue to bolster his superstar status even after a decade in the game. Linking up with DJ Snake for a remix to “U Are My High, Future proves yet again his sound has no bounds.
DJ Snake crafts a soulful instrumental with vocal samples and intense 808s, as melodic synths loop and cascade throughout the majority of the track. Future unsurprisingly balances his flow and harmonies to complement the beat until it reaches an atmospheric drop. While produced as an EDM-based track, the coexistence of hip-hop and electronic music continues to define the soundscape of the future. Due to the ravenous hyperpop wave sweeping our generation, Future does his part by lending his vocals to an upbeat, head-bobbing and euphoric EDM cut.
Along with Snake’s collaboration, Future appeared on a handful of singles over the weekend (Dec. 3) — hopping on Nardo Wick’s debut album with Lil Baby on “Me Or Sum” as well as Gunna’s “Too Easy” remix with Roddy Ricch.
2021 has been kind to DJ Snake, garnering singles with Selena Gomez, Rick Ross, Rich Brian, Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion and more. Rich Brian and Rozay similarly joined the French DJ for “Run It” off the soundtrack for Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings.
While it’s been a successful year for both artists, it will be interesting to see what directions they take heading into 2022.
