ICYTWAT makes his rap return with new album ‘SIDDHI’

AWGE signee ICYTWAT has been a refined staple in the underground for years.

With previous production credits on songs with Playboi Carti, ThouxanBanFauni and UnoTheActivist, the renowned producer makes a long overdue comeback as a rapper on his new project SIDDHI.

His AWGE debut is not only a reintroduction to ICYTWAT as a lyricist, but marks his first full-length drop since Dream Bwoy in 2018. On SIDDHI, Icy continues to channel that hypnotic, rage-inducing sound pioneered at the height of the SoundCloud era.

In anticipation of the solo release, ICYTWAT shared the ethereal “Psychotic Women Luv Me” back in May 2021. The atmospheric track brings back the energy of his come-up with a wavy beat and simple yet effective lyrics.

ICYTWAT drops relaxed flows on his self-produced instrumentals. Eerie melodies and booming 808s back his off-kilter delivery as the Chicago rapper speaks on his success in the underground and past experiences.

These niggas so oppy it’s sickening

These niggas still moving like bitches

I’m nine lines in, I’m trippin’

I’m high tryna mind my business

I’m ten bands in at the tells

Made that shit in a week off bells

Made that shit in a week off kits

Made that shit in a week off snares

ICYTWAT — “Winter In Chicago”

On “Winter In Chicago,” he flexed his chops as a producer with a bombastic beat while spitting about some of his past experiences and betrayals.

Along with his new 11-track effort, AWGE head honcho A$AP Rocky recently confirmed ICYTWAT’s involvement in his upcoming album All Smiles. While this project may be a peek into what to expect from Rocky, the A$AP king also lended his pen for “Arya” this past weekend — the lead track off BAPE founder Nigo’s upcoming album I Know NIGO.

After a few years under the radar, it will be interesting to see how ICYTWAT continues to evolve following SIDDHI’s impact in his discography.
