Lil Nas X is ‘STAR WALKIN’ on new single for League of Legends Worlds tournament

Of all the pop and hip-hop stars that dominate the charts, Lil Nas X could debatably be dubbed the king of brand deals.

After inking partnerships with Yves Saint Laurent, Coach, Vitamin Water, M&M’s and several others, Nas X has now dipped his feet into the gaming industry. On Thursday (Sept. 22) he released “STAR WALKIN’,” his second single of the year and the official “League of Legends Worlds Anthem.”

Taking place from late September to early November, the League of Legends World tournament tapped Lil Nas X to put together a galactic new vibe to soundtrack their event. Since early May, Nas had been previewing this track on Twitter and TikTok, most often using a snippet of the portion of the track where he harmoniously belts out “Been that n***a since I came out my mama.”

“STAR WALKIN'” is produced by Omer Fedi, who has had his hands on some of the biggest pop hits of the decade so far like Nas’ “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name),” 24kGoldn‘s “Mood,” The Kid LAROI‘s “GO” and “STAY” and many more, aside from being the boyfriend of Addison Rae. With a melodic pop guitar and explosive trap drums, the inspiring chord progression leads into the anticipated climax of the song midway through.

The healthy balance of confident bars and elegant crooning on the track once again proves how polished of an artist Nas has become in such a short amount of time, which is likely why each of his releases is blessed with a proper rollout and a handful of months between them.

While it is unclear if “STAR WALKIN'” will land on his currently untitled upcoming album, Nas will surely continue to ramp up his rollout as the end of 2022 approaches. Now that we’ve hit the fall season, his “summertime” plan for the album has probably been halted, but that does not mean the excitement for it has.

As we wait for Lil Nas X’s next move, check out “STAR WALKIN'” below!
