After taking over 2021 with his hit song “Wockesha” off his No. 1 record, A Gangsta’s Pain, Moneybagg Yo has been steadily proving himself to being one of hip-hop’s biggest stars in the making.
Following the release of his single “Blow” in September and his appearance on the CMG compilation album Gangsta Art, the Memphis-native has returned with the woozy love ballad titled “Quickie” (Dec. 9).
The song sees Moneybagg Yo reflecting on his experiences with the many women in his life over a sample of Lamont Dozier’s “Prelude.” He took to Twitter to shout out Lil Wayne for the inspiration behind the song for the use of the sample.
Preciate @LilTunechi for the inspiration 🤲🏾 #Quickie OUT NOW !!

The Diesel Filmz-directed visual depicts Moneybagg’s fast-paced lifestyle in real time as he hits up the strip club to let off some steam — and bands. Though we aren’t sure if this is the first single to his next album, we know Moneybagg has another anthem with “Quickie” — further proving his ability to modernize iconic samples.
As Moneybagg Yo climbs to the top, he hasn’t let anything get in his way and continues to reassert his dedication to his craft. Hopefully this song signals a strong, album-clad 2023 on the horizon.
