Cordae, Lil Wayne unleash ‘Sinister’ flow on new single

Cordae is staring at the finish line for his sophomore album From A Birds Eye View, as fans are more than ready for new music from hip-hop’s crown prince.

Two months after releasing the project’s first single, he is back again with another track “Sinister” with a guest verse from Lil Wayne and production from Hit-Boy.

From the get-go, the Maryland-based phenom makes sure his fans know this is more than a mundane rap song, and that’s he’s so much more than your average rapper.

Yeah, alright, my flow sinister

This ain’t rap music, this straight literature

Small minded n***a, all your ideas miniature

They tend to hate on you when they can’t get rid of ya

I ain’t going nowhere, twenty year career minimum

“Sinister” — Cordae featuring Lil Wayne

After sandwiching his singular verse about separating himself from the pack with the two renditions of the hook, Cordae ushers in the lyrical legend Weezy with a bridge.

Wayne lets off a brief, but impactful verse about how potent his ideas are and how his oppontents aren’t comparable to him.

Lil’ Tune flow sinister, I’ma finish ya

Many men gon’ need ministers, I made men of them

Enemies, I’m the enema, I’ma shit on them

Just like my keys, drop my genitals on her dental work

My thoughts I keep confidential or it’s consequential

Our philosophies unidentical, I’m not into ya

The visuals for “Sinister” depict Cordae’s Hi Level record label as a revolutionary cause, similar to the Black Panthers. As Cordae leads the charge, he introduces Wayne to the organization as a sage figure to bestow wisdom upon the crowd.

Overall, “Sinister” is another monstrous step in the right direction for Cordae’s album rollout.

Cordae fans have been waiting for his upcoming album From A Birds Eye View since his stellar debut The Lost Boy in 2019. After releasing From A Birds Eye View‘s first promotional single “Super” on Oct. 7, Cordae is more than ready to keep the ball rolling.

On Wednesday (Dec. 1), Cordae announced he will drop his new single “Sinister” at midnight on Friday (Dec. 3). “Sinister” is produced by Hit-Boy, and will feature Lil Wayne, as Cordae released a presumed preview of a skit from the song’s accompanying music video.

“Sinister” was first teased in November by Hit-Boy on his Instagram, as the trio were on set of the song’s music video. Cordae is no stranger to high profile features, as he has worked with Young Thug, Roddy Ricch, Q Tip, Nas and Freddie Gibbs since his last album’s release.

The skit Cordae shared to Twitter humorously depicts him leading a meeting for his 100% self-owned label Hi Level, which he launched this past summer after ditching his old rap group YBN.

He touches more on this endeavor in a new docuseries he’s just started. Cordae released episode one of Road to “From a Birds Eye View” on Saturday (Nov. 29), as it touches on his album-making process, his trips to New York and African countries Egypt and Ghana to gain perspective and inspiration and his approach to studio time. The episode is just over seven minutes long, likely being a pilot for an entire series based around From A Birds Eye View.
