Nas, Hit-Boy rekindle their ‘Magic’ on new project, teases ‘KD3’

Nas and Hit-Boy have proven to be hip-hop’s dynamic duo over the last few years.

Dropping the Grammy-winning King’s Disease in 2020 and its newly-nominated sequel King’s Disease II all within a year, the New York legend continues to dominate the game even after three decades into his career. Along with Hit-Boy, who has risen to the top as one of the genre’s most coveted producers, the pair’s potency has become an anamoly within hip-hop — outwardly claiming the sound found its storied roots.

Ultimately, Nas ceases to miss with Hit-Boy, asserting his name in the conversation for hip-hop’s “Mount Rushmore.” Crushing previous claims of “if he had better beats, he’d be better” with Hit-Boy at his side — who’s worked with everyone from Juice WRLD, Benny The Butcher, Big Sean and countless others — the tandem has been virtually unstoppable, dropping MAGIC every time they connect.

Surprising fans with a gift for the holidays this week, Nas announced their latest collab project MAGIC on Thursday (Dec. 23). The EP comes complete with features from DJ Premier and A$AP Rocky on “Wave Gods,” touting nine new tracks that further showcase Hit-Boy and Nas’ “Shaq and Penny” type chemistry.

Along with the new tape, Nas and Hit also teased another edition of their impending King’s Disease trilogy on the track “Ugly.”

Nas spits in his first verse, “I’m on offense every day until I see the love… KD3 on the way, this just to feed the buzz.” Hit-Boy also took to Twitter to bolster the claim his partner made about the upcoming record, supposedly coming sooner rather than later.

Simply put, Nas and Hit-Boy are on a run for the ages, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
