NBA YoungBoy kicks off 2023 with ‘I Rest My Case’

New year, same NBA YoungBoy. Not even a full week into the new year and the 23-year-old hip-hop icon got married, dropped a new music video and delivered a hefty new 19-track album titled I Rest My Case.

IRMC follows YoungBoy’s previous surprise drop, Lost Files, which holds 20 unfinished tracks and was released just two weeks ago on Dec. 23. Lost Files was YoungBoy’s eighth full-length project of 2022 and 10th in total when including his label collective projects.

Because of his work ethic, rapid releases and excess of projects, YoungBoy was the second most streamed artist across all genres with an astronomical 5.5 Billion streams in October. In front of him was none other than the colossal streaming king: Drake.

In IRMC fans will be relatively surprised to find out that a decent portion of the album contains major rage influence, similar music to labels like Opium and artists like Playboi Carti and Yeat. However, much of the album showcases YoungBoy’s traditional, Baton Rogue-baked instrumentals and his beloved Southern style. To add to the impressiveness of the IRMC, YoungBoy took the project head-on solo dolo.

With an album already under his belt just six days into 2023, it won’t be a surprise when YoungBoy drops another handful projects in 2023.
