PinkPantheress sees a ‘Picture in my mind’ on latest single

While PinkPantheress‘ groovy, hyper-pop bops always capitalize on their intent to get people to dance floors and out of their seats, their relationship-fueled lyrical content can sometimes be surprisingly snarky. One of the best examples of this comes on her newest single “Picture in my mind,” released on Wednesday (Aug. 10).

As her third single of the year, after February’s Mura Masa/Lil Uzi Vert/Shygirl collab “bbycakes” and WILLOW-assisted April track “Where you are,” “Picture in my mind” manages to elegantly toe the line between toxic and cutesy. Produced by English electronic instrumentalist Sam Gellaitry, who has previously provided beats for Don Toliver and Tierra Whack, the cut sees Pantheress urge a twin flame not to leave her because of how similar they are.

And when you see me, you walk the other way

I guess it’s easy to say you never saw me that day

And with my intent about you, why can’t we make amends?

I’ll never see you again, I think you’re more of a friend

“Picture in my mind” — PinkPantheress, Sam Gellaitry

With her “I had a picture in my mind” hook, the British vocalist aims to convince her significant other that they are destined to be together, regardless of their quarrels. With wonderfully sung verses and choruses, separated by Gellaitry’s auto-tuned refrain, PinkPantheress continues her unstoppable run kickstarted by hits from her October 2021 project to hell with it.

As long as she keeps up her thrilling, innovating take on hyper-pop, PinkPantheress will continue to see success and expand her cult fanbase.
