Strick is saying ‘Wassup’ to 2023 with new single

Since the release of his debut album, Strick Land, in 2021 — and collaborative efforts with Young Thug over the years Young Stoner Life rapper Strick has been steadily on the rise to prominence.

Releasing his first single of 2023 in “Wassup” on Friday (Feb. 24), the new track not only shows he’s developing into a star-in-the-making, but also proves him to be one of the most underrated emcees with tons of potential to break out.

“Wassup” sees Strick reflect on his life as he relays unapologetic bars about his lost trust and friendships — telling his story through his laid-back flow as he rides the piano-led melody over trap 808s for a rather reflective performance. The coinciding visual depicts his fast-paced lifestyle of balancing the studio and hustling — cutting back and forth between being in the streets and the life that comes with it.

“Engine price going thru the lights

Had to cut off some dead weight

It took all my might

It’s a treacherous world we live in

Watch yo pesos

Took some risks to get where I’m at you should take notes”

Strick – “Wassup”

Strick is a robust and multifaceted recording artist hailing from North Carolina, best known for honing his skills as a clever wordsmith and adept songwriter. After relocating to Atlanta in 2012 and founding Foundation 86, Strick moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in music.

With a diverse professional background both in business and in the U.S. Air Force, Strick has used those experiences to elevate his creative output – releasing tracks alongside Young Thug, ASAP Rocky and Kid Cudi among others. He’s cemented himself into the culture and is here to stay — finding himself writing for Kanye West’s verse on Future’s Billboard No. 1 album I Never Liked You amid more wins to come.
