Teezo Touchdown has been virtually unstoppable over the past year.
Revered as an genre-less sonic enigma, the Beaumont, Texas native has evidently taken music by storm in a short span, especially off the back of his debut album How Do You Sleep At Night? last September.
He’s had the world clinging onto his every word, and continues to do so becoming Apple Music’s latest “UP NEXT” star, announced Wednesday (Jan. 10).
Apple’s esteemed initiative is designed to “discover, highlight, and propel emerging talents into the spotlight,” as Teezo fits the mold near seamlessly. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to be the January Up Next artist for 2024 and I’m looking forward to the other artists who will push music forward for the rest of the year,” said Teezo. “Thank you to everyone at Apple Music.”
As part of the Up Next program, Apple Music released an exclusive short film offering fans an intimate look into Teezo’s daily life in his hometown of Beaumont. In the short, Teezo delves into the essence of his sound, describing it as “rock and boom” — an innovative blend of R&B with the “intensity of rock, the penmanship of hip-hop, and a resonating boom that “shakes the world.”
Alongside Apple Music’s honors, the 30-year-old multi-hyphenate also shared the expanded edition of his debut record, which features three additional tracks in “Up And Down,” “Outta Respect” and “Third Coast.” How Do You Sleep at Night? stands as a testament to Teezo’s genre-defying approach, paying homage to the diverse musical influences that have shaped his artistic journey. The 14-track LP impressively soared to No. 1 on the alternative albums chart in 49 countries upon its release.
His inclusion as a 2023 OGM All-Star was also highlighted by collaborations with Drake, Don Toliver, Lil Yachty and fellow Texas native Travis Scott, who he joined on his widely successful “Circus Maximus” tour. Teezo is set to embark on his own trek — albeit his first-ever debut headlining world tour — this Spring titled “Spend The Night.”
If anything is certain, expect Teezo Touchdown to score more accolades as his global takeover continues.
