Stemming from last summer’s slate of albums, Top Dawg Entertainment’s Isaiah Rashad dropped another sonically exquisite and introspective album with The House Is Burning.
One of the album’s stellar promotional singles was “Wat U Sed” with essential TDE in-house producer Kal Banx and burgeoning female rapper Doechii.
Doechii’s portion of the track was undeniably the most effective and compelling part of “Wat U Sed,” and seemingly caught the attention of TDE’s decision makers. Over half a year later, Doechii’s newest single “Persuasive,” her first of 2022, also comes with a new deal with the well-respected label (March 18).
Doechii, who also tends to go by Iamdoechii, joins an elite roster on the label including ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, REASON, Ray Vaughn, Kendrick Lamar until his upcoming album releases and other talents. To officiate the signing, she released an announcement video that included a fiery, yet brief song snippet.
“Persuasive” continues to emphasize who Doechii has been as an artist up to this point. On the rhythmic, sensual cut, Doechii’s ability to harmoniously sing the sexy hook with her soft voice and match the energy with an impressively rapped verse will impress listeners as much as it did TDE.
In her bars, Doechii spits about the marijuana consumed life she lives, as it helps her to maintain her intimidating, yet irresistible aura.

The production, provided by none other than Kal Banx, consists of groovy drums and claps, and epic momentary horns that make the transitions between bridges and hooks as intriguing as the vocals.
It’s only up from here for Doechii as resources like consistently great instrumentals and seasoned veterans at TDE as mentors will elevate her artistry to new heights.
