Amid trekking on his 8-date international tour with Tana this month, Lil Tecca’s long-teased “Need Me” (May 11) is the heat we needed to kick off summer right.
The Internet Money mainstay, who’s built a brand surrounding his chart-topping catalog that features “Ransom,” “Did It Again” and “DIVA” among others, teased the release of “Need Me” during his recent show in Melbourne, Australia. This is Tecca’s first single since dropping “POPPIN” alongside Rich Amiri, which preceded a string of tracks in 2022 like “Blessing,” “Faster,” “Fallin,” “She Want Some More” with Ken Carson and the fan favorite “Treesha.”
Methodically releasing over the past year, his efforts will culminate on his long-awaited full-length album TEC, following up the sensational summertime vibes found all over We Love You Tecca 2 in 2021.

Continuing the carefree essence of WLYT2, “Need Me’s” sample-laced melody (interpolated from Brandy’s hit track “The Boy Is Mine”), bouncy percussion and orchestral arrangements allow Tecca’s fleeting auto-tuned vocals to shine. “She said she don’t need you, she said that she need me / I can make it splash, yeah, that’s that water, Fiji / Eye for an eye, I could treat you how you treat me,” Tec raps over the track’s shimmering island vibes, sounding as if the coveted rapstar has his girl in one hand and a frozen Casamigos margarita in the other.
“Need Me” screams sunshine and good times, as Tecca’s forthcoming album looks to be a soundtrack to many kickbacks this summer.
