Wolfacejoeyy mends heartache with new single ‘tylenol’

14 singles, a pair of EPs and an endless pocket of personality, wolfacejoeyy has had a year that he’ll never forget.

On top of co-signs from On The Radar and a part of SoundCloud’s FOSC 2023 class, the Staten Island shifter continues to outdo himself with every track he shares. Consistently dropping tracks like “what do you do?”, “Skye,” “company,” “I Think You Like Me,” “TRUE” and hues, Vol. 2 — along with his second project 22Joey with Whereis22 — wolfacejoeyy’s latest efforts “GOMD” and “Tylenol” are perhaps his best since “buku.”

While 22Joey touted appearances from SoFaygo, Chow Lee and Cash Cobain, know that Joey’s star power is not reliant on features. Backed by fairy tale bells and deep 808s, “GOMD” is an assertive yet fun listen solely for the fact that it’s tongue-in-cheek — playfully acknowledging his “Kidz Bop” and “TikTok” rapper labels… That hook still is stuck in my head.

“tylenol feels like a euphoric extension of the vulgar purity found on “GOMD,” linking up with indie-pop artist Chenayder for a performance that highlights his soulful vocals at center stage. Propulsive kicks and a ghostly sample back Joey’s signature cadence, as he earworms you with his undoubted charisma and infectious grooves — like always. It’s minimal electronic-laced production creates a void that Joey fills with ease; take a tab and sink in.

If he keeps this up (and he certainly will), 2024 is shaping up to be the year for wolfacejoeyy.
