Detroit’s BabyTron blessed fans on his birthday this week (June 6) with yet another brand new DotComNirvan-directed visual for “Hold Up, Wait!” off his latest project Megatron – an ironic title that sees Tron showing no signs of slowing his nonstop release strategy.
For the second time in two weeks, fans of the irreverent flows of Michigan’s most slick-talking prince are blessed with a new single accompanied by a visual from the underground’s favorite director.
On “Hold Up, Wait!” BabyTron slides over a chaotic, violin-led beat (prod. by yourfriendrado) punctuated by those unmistakable Detroit drums – riding the idiosyncratic pocket popularized by the Michigan scene as he unleashes dense, in-your-face bars that beg the question: “Did he really just say that?”
Just like a Michigan-winter snowflake, no two Nirvan visuals are exactly alike. On “Hold Up, Wait!” he has the racially ambiguous Tron in an inexplicably Mediterranean setting rocking his usual cozy fit complete with crocs and his signature blue buffs – joined by fire swallowers and several giant snakes that might very well be the first use of live animals in a DotComNirvan production.
On their last collab “Bring Em Thru,” released just two weeks ago, fans got their first glimpse at the man behind the camera as Nirvan stepped in to play the role of the haters.
BabyTron has been an on absolute tear recently, constantly dropping new singles, visuals and flooding the market with his one-of-a-kind brand of unapologetic Detroit swag. While many of his latest visuals are from his most recent project Megatron, he’s also had some viral moments recently with straight-to-Youtube singles like “Prince of the Mitten,” “King of the Galaxy” and the show-stopping 21-in-one Lyrical Lemonade video for “Emperor of the Universe.”
Despite the title of his latest release, the self-proclaimed Prince of the Mitten shows zero signs of holding up or waiting as he plows ahead with his plans for world domination.
